Everybody procrastinates. Anyone who tells you they don’t isn’t being truthful to you or to themselves. It’s a matter of how much procrastinating you do. Who likes to do things they don’t really enjoy doing? That’s nobody that I know.
Are you overly cautious? Always waiting for “the right time” to begin putting an ideas or plans into action. Your waiting can become a permanent habit. One habitually overlooked reason for procrastination is constantly looking at the negative side to any situation. Thinking about a potential failure instead of concentrating on the means of success. This leads to knowing all roads lead to disaster and the never ending search for ways to avoid failure. Constant procrastination and uncertainty leads to physical complications.
If you can’t get anything done on time no matter how easy the task then you’re a procrastinator. Some procrastination is based on lack of organizational skills. But for some, procrastination is a habit all on it’s own. It’s like you have a mental block to doing anything on time.
Chronic procrastinators sometimes think that putting things off to later date is ingrained in their personality. Not true. Procrastination is a habit. It can be reshaped just like anything else. But it won’t be easy. Just remember you will always procrastinate to some extent. But don’t let that be an excuse to not do anything about it. It won’t happen overnight. Choose areas to tackle first, like getting to work on time or getting or opening the mail the same day you receive it.
Figure out how you can reorganize your morning such as setting your click 15 minutes ahead. Open the mail and write out your bills every Friday. Focus on picking up the clutter everyday. Or make sure all your dishes are put away every evening. These small victories will lead to bigger goals and greater victories. Yes everyone procrastinates and so will you to some extent.
