How to come up with a creative greeting in Chinese Spring Festival?

Question by Jason J: How to come up with a creative greeting in Chinese Spring Festival?
The Chinese Spring Festival is coming.People greet each other with “Happy Spring Festival” every year. Or a slight variation is “Happy Bull(Niu) year” this time. In my eyes, both are cliche. How can I greet each other with a creative statement?

Best answer:

Answer by Jun C (???)
On a friend’s birthday, we say, “Happy birthday.” During Christmas, we say, “Merry Christmas” or “Happy Holidays”. Every new year, we say, “Happy new year.”

Every Chinese new year, I hear, “????” (gongxi facai in Mandarin) or “????” (xin nian kuai le). I guess that’s tradition and I don’t think you can say anything else on that day or any other days like the ones above.

ADD, ADHD, Diet ad Chinese Medicine

ADD, ADHD, Diet ad Chinese Medicine

Education, knowledge not remedies, fancy titles, etc. cures disease. The quickest cure is knowledge. Basic info to bring you up tp speed.

1. The body is not one structure and function but many that work together, for better (health) or worse (disease). You cannot cure one part (mind) and expect to be successful without curing all the parts (diet, digestion, elimination, respiration, etc.).

2. All disease progresses in stages. Stage 1 is always cause. Thought precedes action. Stage 1 for most skin diseases is poor diet. Poor diet tends to weaken (2) digestion, (3) elimination, (4) blood, (5) circulation, (6) organ disease, etc.

Most ADD ” diseases”  are stage 4 or higher. They generally start with poor diet.

Stage 1. Poor diet:

Long-term high protein, fat and starch and low veegtables, fruit,

Long-term cold, damp, low pritein, low fat and high carbohydrate.

Stage 2:  abdominal bloating, gas, burping, heartburn, nausea

Stage 3:  loose stools, constipation,

Stage 4:  fatigue, coldness, pain, pallor, inflammation, etc.

Stage 5:  ADD, skin diseases, arthritis, circulatory disorders

ADD, ADHD  did not happen overnight, but over time, stages which you ignored, put up with, treated, etc. until you developed a new set of symptoms you can accept, at which point, you ran to the doctor again for more drugs and now are reading blogs in desperation for an answer. Here’s your answer.

3. Cure the disease in its first stage. The first stage exists throughout the disease. It is just coated, cloaked by different layers of symptoms, stages. The first, beginning stages are the brains, head of the disease, not te latter stages, which are just arms and legs. You cannot cure a stage 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, etc. symptom, disease without first curing stage 1. There is nothing wrong with treating latter stages as long as you take the beginning stages into account, so that you can minimize any potential side effects, health risk. .

The cure procedes in the same path, from beginning (stage 1) to end not the other way around, which is why many doctors, physicians, mainstream and alternative fail to cure simple diseases.

Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) and Attention Deficite Hyperactive Disorder are characterized by the psychiatric profession as neurological disorders that tend to attack children producing the following symptoms: (ADD) cannot stay focused, cannot pay attention, easily distracted and (ADHD) same symptoms as ADD, but also hyperactivity and impulsiveness. These symptoms are generally observed in school.

Dr. Phil, on a recent show, outlined the cause and treatment plan, which included seeing a specialist, such as himself (licensed psychiatrist and or psychologist). The treatment plan was 1. Medication, in general: Ritalin (amphetamine, stimulant drug), Adderal (amphetamine), etc., 2. Counseling, 3. Therapy and 4. Training, including simple things (parents be clear and consistent, teach children to stick to a schedule, organize, etc.

Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) would diagnose the child, symptoms as poor diet and lack of discipline. There no diagnosis of ADD and ADHD in TCM and Ayurvedic medicine, both 5,000+ years old. Neither would define the symptoms as a neurological disorder. Nor would they recommend stimulant drugs, amphetamines to a child, unless it was a serious life threatening emergency, as the mususe of amphetamines can create neurological disorders and or drug addiction.

The Chinese physician would recommend the following treatment plan.

1. Better diet:

Most inattention, hyperactivity disorders are caused by poor diet: too much sugar, starch: sodas, desserts, snacks, candies, cookies, cereals, etc.) and or too much or too little protein and fat.

Protein and fat build and fuel. Too much overbuilds, over fuels creating hyperactivity, impulsiveness, etc. Too little under builds, under fuels reducing attention, ability to stay focused, becoming easily distracted, etc.

The correct, daily diet, meal plan would be as follows: 1/3 protein and fat, 1/3 grain, 1/3 vegetables (3- 5, cooked, raw), spices, fruit (1), soup and or tea, two to three times per day, preferably breakfaat and lunch. For more info: read “Energetics of Food” on this blog.

2. Parents: more discipline, time spent with children, to make up for the lack of discipline, attention in today’s schools, overcrowded classrooms. Parents eat the same healthy diet.

That is it. No drugs, therapy, counseling, special diagnoses, etc, just common sense, good diet and mature, disciplined parenting. You do not need a specialist. You just need to eat better and spend more time in the kitchen and with your children.

The following case history is one example.

One of my customers came to see me about her eleven year-old daughter. Her school wanted to put her daughter (extremely thin) on Ritalin in addition to the drugs (4 months of Adderall and Dexedrine) she was already taking: She did not know what to do. I told her to bring her daughter in and let me question her. I had never counseled a child before but I did not think it would be any different from an adult.

She brought her daughter in. I sat and questioned her. There was nothing wrong with her except for poor diet (under built) and lack of attention, at home and in the schoolroom: overcrowded classrooms.

I told her mother to start feeding her more protein, building foods (red meat, hamburgers, eggs, chicken, etc.) especially for breakfast. She was already eating grains and vegetables. I also advised fish liver oil (capsules) in addition to greater personal attention.

Months later she wrote me a letter thanking me saying that her daughter was now getting all A’s and one B (math) without the use of Ritalin or any other drug.

Does your doctor, physician give you this kind of information and results.every time you see him, her? If not, then why aren’t you buying my book, Hot and Cold Health and Disease  (317 pages), on sale .49: Amazon and others http://www.amazon.com/Hot-Cold-Health-Disease-Richard-Heft/dp/0974791725 ?

How do I cook Chinese rice like in the restaurants?

Question by Fake?Star: How do I cook Chinese rice like in the restaurants?
I noticed the difference between Chinese and Japanese steamed rice at the restaurants. Japanese rice tends to be sticky and Chinese rice almost isn’t sticky at all. The rice is also more fragrant and the grains seem longer than the Japanese kind I usually eat.

What kind of rice should I buy? How do I prepare the rice to be just like the steamed rice at the Chinese restaurants? Can I use a rice cooker?

Thank you. Your help is greatly appreciated.

Chinese Ancient Traditions Revived in Global New Year Shows

Chinese Ancient Traditions Revived in Global New Year Shows

Two years ago some Chinese friends of mine took me to NTDTV’s (New Tang Dynasty TV) live Chinese New Year Spectacular. It was a thrilling and enchanting music and dance performance, with traditional Chinese instruments and costumes faithfully recreated from old manuscripts, paintings and pottery. The dragons, drums and dancers all evoked the grandeur of China’s great dynasties and legends of remote history.

Ancient Chinese traditions speak of harmony between heaven and earth. They say that humans were created by Gods. Culture as well as moral and spiritual guidance were also imparted to humans by divine beings during different times in history. When humans respect the Tao, the “Divine Law or Way” and follow Heaven’s order, society will be prosperous and peaceful.

Like most Westerners I knew next to nothing about the Chinese New Year. So I asked my friends to tell me more and share their favorite New Year’s memories. I learned that Chinese New Year is actually celebrated by almost a quarter of the world’s population in several Asian countries where it is the most important holiday of the year. It follows the Lunar calendar, and the date varies each year, depending on the moon’s cycle.

Several friends shared about fire works and favorite foods–dumplings were often mentioned–and various traditions. One is to write poems or lucky phrases on red paper to be pasted around every family’s door. After breakfast there would be a round of visits. The first stop would be at a local temple to burn incense and honor the gods. Next came visits to relatives and friends. In many towns musicians paraded through streets to announce the arrival of spring.

The Lantern Festival marks the end of the New Year season. It evolved from the ancient belief of celestial spirits flying about in the light of the first full moon. Lanterns of many colors and shapes were lit during the night.

Maquiong, who grew up in a town near the Yangzi River, said, “Some communities would organize a lantern market. Usually, my mom would take us to watch the activities. Later she’d cook another good dinner which included dumplings filled with syrup, which symbolizes harmony in the family and sweetness of life.”

She said that in recent years traditions like these have been changing in China. In big cities fireworks were forbidden, and people have New Year’s dinner at restaurants. Also, many people exchange new year greetings by phone and don’t visit each other so much anymore. “But in my memories,” Maquiong said, “Chinese New Year always means having a good time.”

“Traditional Chinese culture and spiritual traditions were destroyed and outlawed by the Chinese Communist Party,” said Jason, a medical doctor. He said that the CCP smashed almost all the temples and burned the ancient manuscripts. Since coming to power in the late 40s, they have changed history books and brainwashed generations of Chinese with party culture, class struggle and Marxist ideology.

“Young people know nothing about true Chinese history or the deeper values of our ancient traditions,” Jason said. “NTDTV and its annual global Chinese New Year Shows are instrumental in promoting a rebirth of traditional Chinese culture. The performances are magnificent and full of nobility.”

The 2007 NTDTV New Year Spectacular will be touring Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Houston, Los Angeles, New York, Philadelphia, San Francisco, Washington, DC, plus major cities in Canada, Europe and Asia. http://shows.ntdtv.com/

Chinese Legend of the New Year’s Monster Nian

Chinese Legend of the New Year’s Monster Nian

An ancient Chinese legend tells of a man-eating predatory beast called Nian, extremely fierce, with a long head and sharp horn. Nian dwelled deep in the sea the whole year long, but on every Chinese New Year’s Eve it would climb onto the shore to devour livestock and harm humans in a near-by village. Therefore, every Chinese New Year’s Eve, all the villagers would take their old and young deep into the mountains to hide from Nian.

One Chinese New Year’s Eve a grey haired man appeared in the village. He asked permission to stay for the night and assured everyone that he would chase away the beast. No one believed him. In addition, the old man steadfastly refused to go to the mountains to hide. Seeing that he could not be persuaded, the villagers departed without him.

When the beast arrived at the village to wreck havoc as usual, it was met with a sudden burst of exploding firecrackers. Startled by the noise, the flashes of light, and red banners flying about, it hastily turned and fled!

The following day, as the people returned from the mountains, they found the village intact and safe. The old man had left, but they found the remains of the three precious items he had used to chase the beast Nian away. They all agreed that the old man must be a deity who had come to help free them of the beast.

From then on, every Chinese New Year’s Eve, families would hang red banners, set off fire crackers, and light their lamps the whole night through, awaiting the Chinese New Year. The custom spread far and wide and became a grand traditional celebration of the “Passing of Nian” (“Nian” in Chinese means “year”).

So celebrating the Chinese New Year should be called “passing of Nian” or “Guo Nian” in Chinese. However the term was gradually changed to “Spring Festival” after the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) took power in 1949. Gradually people have forgotten the legend behind these Chinese New Year traditions. It is merely one small example of how the CCP has robbed the Chinese people of their rich traditional culture.

New Tang Dynasty Television (NTDTV) is working hard to reverse this loss. In its 2006 Chinese New Year Global Gala it actually put the ancient story of the Nian monster on stage. NTDTV’s Chinese New Year shows are a unique opportunity to experience the magic of traditional Chinese culture. Marvelous music, ancient instruments, magnificent backdrops, splendid costumes, and first class performers–altogether make for outstanding entertainment reflecting China’s 5,000 years of civilization and traditional culture–a culture rich in myths and legends worth cherishing and preserving.

Between January and March the 2007 NTDTV Chinese New Year Spectacular will be touring Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Houston, Los Angeles, New York, Philadelphia, San Francisco, Washington, DC, and major cities in Canada, Europe and Asia. http://shows.ntdtv.com

Chinese Netizens Developing

Chinese Netizens Developing

In 2008 a substantial historical event took place on the web that seemed to miss the interest of most mainstream new outlet thus staying out of the web site of the majority of even individuals who would contemplate themselves Web savvy. The event was that for the first time because the inception of the Globe Wide Internet a nation other than the United States had the largest quantity of “Netizens”. A Netizen is a individual who has access to the Internet and makes use of it on a fairly common basis.

In 2008 China surpassed the United States with a lot more on the web customers or Netizens. To the typical World wide web user this may well not seem like that huge of an occasion but the implications of this shift will be enormous. The ethos of the Web has often dominated by western culture and even though this might be so imbedded that it may possibly not change, to feel main adjustments are not coming would be naive.

This shift is only at the starting and will certainly develop as the Asian marketplace, driven with China at the helm only continues to expand. Quite a few forward thinking western businesses are previously beginning to anticipate the repercussion of these adjustments and are working to position themselves to capitalize on what will grow to be a a lot much more diverse web.

These days several multinational firms are seeing a growing Chinese Netizen base that is only at 24 percent of total citizens but has previously surpassed the U.S. that is over 70 percent; this mixed with the fastest developing middle class in the globe creates what could turn out to be the best storm for adventurous entrepreneurs.

Don’t be shocked that at the very same time quite a few Asian countries continue to seem and experience a lot more and much more western the world wide web will start to glimpse and sense more and far more Asian. Businesses will locate methods to capitalize on this new wave of Web customers and individuals who do will assist to reshape the new World wide web.
