An evening with Fei-Fei Dong – Cliburn Winner, and a rare solo piano concert with John Beasley
Event on 2016-05-14 20:00:00
FEI-FEI DONG Praised for her "bountiful gifts and passionate immersion into the music she touches" (The Plain Dealer), Chinese pianist Fei-Fei Dong is a winner of the 2014 CAG Victor Elmaleh Competition and a top six finalist at the 14th Van Cliburn International Piano Competition. She continues to build a reputation for her poetic interpretations, charming audiences with her "passion, piquancy and tenderness" and "winning stage presence" (Dallas Morning News). Fei Fei's burgeoning career includes a number of prominent engagements in the 2015-16 season, including New York City debut recitals at Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall (CAG Winners Series), and at Merkin Concert Hall (Tuesday matinees series). Additional recitals include the Gilmore Rising Stars Series (Kalamazoo, MI), Macon Concert Association (Georgia), and St. Vincent College College Concert series (near Pittsburgh), where she will receive the Father Joseph Bronder Memorial Piano Prize. Featured concerto engagements in 15-16 include a special benefit performance with the Kansas City Symphony and Music Director Michael Stern, as well as the Lexington (KY), Brazos Valley (TX) and Northeastern Pennsylvania Philharmonic orchestras. 2015 summer festival highlights included Bravo! Vail Valley, the Highlands Chamber Music and Lake George Music Festivals, and a recital for Chicago's Dame Myra Hess Concert Series. She is also showcased prominently in the new documentary film about the 2013 Cliburn Competition, Virtuosity, which premiered on PBS in August 2015. Fei-Fei has performed at Alice Tully Hall in recital as the winner of Juilliard's 33rd Annual William Petschek Recital Award and as a soloist with the Juilliard Orchestra under the baton of Jeffrey Kahane. She has appeared as a soloist with the Aspen Music Festival Orchestra, Fort Worth Symphony, Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra, Corpus Christi Symphony, Hudson Valley Philharmonic, Austin Symphony, Youngstown Symphony, Fort Collins Symphony, Denver Philharmonic, and in China with the Shanxi and Shenzhen Symphony Orchestras, working with conductors such as Leonard Slatkin, Randall Craig Fleisher, and John Giordano. Notable recitals include those at Warsaw Philharmonic Concert Hall and the Louvre, as well as The Cliburn's spring 2015 Chopin Festival. She has also been featured numerous times on New York's WQXR radio. She is a member of the Aletheia Piano Trio, which debuted at the Kennedy Center in February 2014 as part of its Conservatory Project. Deeply committed to sharing her joy for music and connecting with communities, Fei-Fei also engages students and audiences through school and outreach concerts and master classes. Born in Shenzhen, China, Fei-Fei began piano lessons at the age of 5. She moved to New York to study at The Juilliard School, where she earned her Bachelor and Master of Music degrees under the guidance of Yoheved Kaplinsky.

what do you like to do? There is an excellent display at the Kimball Art Museum, The Impressionists. Whatever you decide, I would find indoor activities, as the weather is not looking too good.

What do you think? Answer below!

Where is/are the best place(s) to look for evening gowns in Dallas,Tx?

Question by Star shower: Where is/are the best place(s) to look for evening gowns in Dallas,Tx?
I am going to be attending my first ever black tie affair and need an evening gown for the occasion. I have no idea where to even start looking! I need it for the first week in April so I need suggestions on places that have good quality, yet reasonably priced (under 0 if possible!), dresses that aren’t custom made or take long to get ready. Any tips on what styles I should look for or avoid will help too since I have no idea what I’m doing! Suggestions on shoes, handbags, and accessories are welcome too.
Anything in the Garland, Mesquite, Plano, Richardson, Sachse, and/or Wylie areas will be most convenient for me. (Between school, errands, & home those are the areas I’m usually in.)
The event is a formal evening for my boyfriend’s company. Dinner, dancing, lots of smiling, and hand shaking. Thank you sooooo much in advance for your help!

well most importantly make sure its something you feel comfortable in since you will be wearing it for a while and doing lots of things
you want to make a good impression also though so i would go for something sophisticated like a dress just below the knee but showing off your shoulders and neck
no clevage if it is formal, it will look really inappropriate and give off the wrong impression
i would also wear a wrap/shawl in case you get colder after and it also is great if you dont know what everyone else will be wearing and they all turn up more covered up

i would look in tj maxx

the shoes really depend on what dress you are wearing but i would definatly get the dress before you buy the shoes so you know how long your dress is with your shoes on

i would definatly go for something with a heel though depending on what you feel comfortable wearing, a small 1-2 inch heel would look good with a dress showing a bit of leg but if it goes down near your ankles i would go for something a bit higher

colours i would suggest are red, black, purple
just because it is black tie it doesnt mean you have to wear black!

if you have a strapless dress wear your hair down but if its halterneck or another type of strap it would look better worn in an updo

whatever you do though make sure you have a great evening
appearances arent everything and most people will be focusing on the event, not what everyone else is wearing

hope i helped!

You could try the hospitals and see if they need weekend help. There are usually a number of jobs that don’t involve patient care.
